New Age Counseling and Consulting
Thank you!
The end of an era has arrived! The journey has been surreal.
Graduating from high school with a high school diploma and an Associate's degree in business administration was just the beginning. I changed my major to mortuary science and finished my prerequisites for a BS in mortuary science. I decided I didn't want to be a mortician and changed my major to counseling psychology. Off I went to the University of Maryland, College Park, where my journey to be a psychologist began. After obtaining a Master's degree in general psychology, I decided I wanted to spcialize. I finished my Master's Degree and began the last few legs of the journey.
I went to work at JHU at the School of Public Health and Hygiene. I got free tuition and books so I dove in while I had the chance. There, I began a journey, practically committing academic suicide by taking 24 credits per semester. I decided to specialize in three areas: Child Counseling Strategies, Adult Survivors of Incest and Abused Women and Children. I did all of my practicums, ranging from testing lead levels in children. I completed my Practicums at the Women's Detention Center, The House of Ruth (the first women's shelter in the US), a probation office and several other practices. During the process of my employment at JHU, I helped Dr. Morton Kramer develop the first ICD codes for psyciatry. The day finally came when I graducation with a PsyD in Counseling Psychology ... Summa cum Laude (top of my class) with a 3.92 GPA.
In 1982, I was working as a counselor and, eventually, started my own private practice. I worked as a psychologist from 1982 to 2023 - 41 years!
The journey has come to an end. I retired on September 30, 2023. I will no longer do consulting work or any other type of work. I feel that almost 42 years is enough!
I want to thank everyone who was part of my journey, whether you were a patient, employer, mentor, or in any other capacity that lead me here! Now, it's time to shut down the roller coaster and go wherever the future takes me.
I will still accept donations on this website to help others! I will never stop helping others unless something prevents me from doing so. Please donate and thank you for your support!
